재미한국학교 북가주협의회(회장 장은영)가 신년하례식을 겸한 1차 운영위원회를 열고 캘리포니아주 교육부가 진행하고 있는 ‘역사·사회 교육과정 지침((History-Social Science Framework) 개정안에 대해 논의했다.
Korean Schools Association of  Northern California(KSANC) held the New year’s ceremony and the first meeting to dicuss about History-Social Framework being processed by California Department of Education(CDE)

23일 임마누엘 장로교회에서 열린 운영위원회에는 협회 임원들과 한국학교 교장, 최철순 SF한국교육원장 등 30여 명이 참석했다.
There were about 30 poeple from the members in KSANC as well as the presidents and the director Chul-soon Choi in Korean Education Center in SF(KECSF).

장은영 회장은 참석자들에게 신년인사를 전한뒤 지난 2014년 재개된 가주 역사·사회 교육과정 지침 개정과 관련해 공청회 참석 등 그동안 협의회가 펼쳐온 활동에 대해 자세히 소개했다.
President Eun Young Chang gave the new year’s salutaion, and introduced about the activities KSANC has been doing so far.

이어 송지은 부회장이 지난해 12월 가주교육부 홈페이지에 소개된 개정안 내용에 대해 소개하며 “위안부 문제가 교과과정 지침 개정안에 포함된 것은 큰 진전”이라며 “이외에도 세계최고 금속활자인 직지와 고대 한국의 무역활동, 한국전 이후 주목할만한 경제성장 등의 내용도 포함됐다”고 밝혔다.
Next, vice president Ji Eun Song mentioned that there was a huge progress on adding “confort woman” in the framwork, and the “Jikji”(metal printing), trade in an old ancientand dramatic economic developmet were included.

그동안 토마스 아담스, 케네스 맥도날드 등 가주 교육부 교과과정 지침 개정 담당자들과 지속적인 교류를 가져온 송 부회장은 “이런 내용들이 최종안에도 수록된다는 보장이 없기 때문에 의견 수렴기간인 2월말까지 가장 효율적이고 체계적인 방법을 논의해 대응해 나가야 된다”며 “무조건 많은 사람들이 의견을 보내면 된다는 생각은 자칫 담당자들에게 부정적 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 자제할 필요가 있다”고 설명했다.
Vice presodent Sogn has been in touch with Thomas Adams and Kenneth Mcdoanald who are in charge of this matter in CDE said ” it is not garaunteed these contents are included for real so we need to keep up doing until late February.

The idea that sending many letters by many people would not be ideal as we unnecessarilty inquire too many”

최철순 교육원장은 “개정안 내용을 한국학중앙연구회에 보내 내용을 검토하고 있는 중”이라며 “2월 중 검토 내용이 오면 한국관련 내용이 교과서에 올바로 게재될 있도록 협의회 관계자들과 상의하겠다”고 말했다. 이어 “장기적인 관점에서 교과서 개정을 위한 전문위원회 구성도 고려해 봐야 한다”며 “교육원도 이런 활동에 적극 협력해 나가겠다”고 덧붙였다.
The director Choi said ” We have sent the contents to The Center for International Affair. We will get the feedback in mid February and discuss further. And in the long-run, we would have to consider making the group of the experts.”

한편, 이날 운영위원회에서는 올해 사업계획에 대한 논의도 진행됐다. 협의회는 지난해에 이어 올해도 2차 교육자료 공모전을 오는 5월31일까지 열기로 했으며, 가장 큰 행사인 백일장 및 그림 그리기 행사에 역사 인물 프로젝트를 추가하기로 했다. 또, 2차 운영위원회는 교사 연수회를 겸해 오는 3월19일 트라이밸리 장로교회에서 개최하기로 의견을 모았다.
On top of that, they also discuss about the activities in 2016. They will continue to hold the contest of class/lesson materials until May 31, and the the biggest event, Writing and drawing contest will include the project of historical people. The sencond meeting will be held on March 19 in Trivally Church.
