3년간의 임기를 마치고 돌아가는 신주식 SF교육원장의 후임에 최철순 전 서울시 교육청 장학관이 부임했다.
New director Chul-soon Choi who works as a school commisioner at Education office in Seoul will replace the former director Joosik Shin as of August 20.
18일 인사차 본사를 방문한 최 신임 교육원장은 “임기 동안 많은 공립학교 내 한국어반 개설이 가장 큰 목표”라고 포부를 밝혔다.
He visited KoreaDaily office, and said that he set the goal to create many Korean classes in the public school.
오는 20일부터 공식 업무를 시작하는 최 원장은 “한국어 보급을 위한 가장 효율적인 방법이 공립학교 내 한국어반 개설이라고 생각한다”면서 “쉬운 문제는 아니지만 전임 교육원장님들이 이뤄온 성과에 누가 되지 않도록 노력할 것”이라고 말했다.
Also he thought that the most effective way to spread Korean langauage is to create Korean classes, and it would not be easy, but will try his best to continue the great wok of former directors.
그 일환으로 신주식 원장이 추진하던 콜로라도 덴버 인근 오로라의 글로벌 빌리지 아카데미(GVA)와 한국어 반이 개설됐다 폐지된 덴버국제학교(DCIS)에도 다시 수업이 재개될 수 있도록 협의할 계획이다. 또 킨더가튼 부터 6학년까지 한국어 이머젼 프로그램이 개설돼 있는 샌프란시스코 클레어 릴리엔탈에도 중학교 전학년(7·8학년)에 한국어 프로그램이 확대 실시 될 수 있도록 하는 계획도 덧붙였다.
To specific, he plans to reopen the Korean class in DCIS, and to work out again with GVA. Also he plans to extend the Korean class up to middle school too in CL.
이와 함께 한국학교 지원 계획도 밝혔다.
In addition, he plans for the Korean school continuously.
최 원장은 “현재 한국학교들이 주로 유아 또는 초등학생 위주로 수업이 진행되는 것으로 알고 있다”며 “중학생과 고등학생들도 흥미를 가지고 수업에 참여할 수 있는 방안을 마련해 나갈 것”이라고 전했다. 또 “교사 연수와 학습법 세미나 등을 통해 각 학교 교사들의 질적 향상도 꾀할 생각”이라고 덧붙였다.
Director said that ” the Korean schools are mainly for toddler and k though k5, he will try to make efforts to draw middle schoolers or higher attention and motivate the participation” and “Teacher’s training and seminars would encourage to improve the the qulaity of teachers”
최 원장은 “임기중 한국어반이 개설된 공립학교, 세종학당 그리고 한국학교까지 총 망라된 책자를 통해 한국어 교육을 홍보할 생각”이라며 “지역사회와 학교가 연결돼 함께 시너지를 노릴 수 있는 프로그램들도 개발해 시도해 볼 생각”이라고 밝혔다.
He will try to put all the infomation of Korean school for the young learners and adults learners in one book, and advertise Korean education. And the programs would bring the synergy when the community and the schools are connected.
공주사범대학을 졸업하고 ROTC로 7년간 군복무를 한 최 원장은 92년 서울 아현중학교에서 처음 교편을 잡은뒤 경동고등학교를 거쳐 2003년 장학사로 서울시 교육청에서 근무를 해왔다.
He graduated from Gongju National University, and seved ROTC for 7 years. He started teaching in Ah-Hyun middle school in 1992, and then has worked as school commisioner at Education office in Seoul since 2003.
한편, 신주식 원장은 20일 한국으로 귀임해 세종시 교육부에서 근무한다.
On the other hand, former Director Shin will resume woking at the ministry of education in the city of Sejong.
